Early Life
Ghazal Alagh was born on September 2, 1988, in Gurgaon, Haryana, India, into a middle-class Hindu family. Her parents, Kamlesh and Sunita Sahni, along with her siblings Chirag Sahni and Sahiba Chauhan, provided her with unwavering support. Despite the conservative environment of Haryana, her family encouraged her to pursue her education and follow her dreams.
Education
Ghazal completed her schooling and early education in Haryana. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Computer Applications from Punjab University in 2010. In 2013, she furthered her education by completing a Summer Intensive Course in Design and Applied Arts and an Intensive Course in Figurative Art in Modern Art at the New York Academy of Art.
Professional Life
Ghazal Alagh began her professional journey as a corporate trainer at NIIT, where she worked for two years starting in 2008. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to launch her first start-up, DietExpert, which unfortunately did not succeed. After this setback, she joined Being Arty as an artist. Ghazal also worked with Honsa Consumer Pvt Ltd, a business services firm. Eventually, she ventured into entrepreneurship again, this time alongside her husband Varun Alagh. Together, they founded Mamaearth, where Ghazal serves as a full-fledged director.
In addition to co-founding Mamaearth, Ghazal gained further recognition as a judge on the Indian edition of Shark Tank, a show that supports aspiring entrepreneurs. Her insightful business acumen and supportive demeanor have made her a beloved figure on the show.
