Deepthi Nathala, an electrical engineer from IIT-Madras, was frustrated with the poor protection from dust and pollution offered by scarves and cotton dupattas when she returned to Hyderabad in December 2018. Using her background in nanotechnology, she discovered that regular cloth only provides 15% protection. She decided to create a better fabric, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic highlighting the need for improved protection.
This led to the invention of Hecoll (Healthy Cover For All), a special fabric that blocks 99% of UV rays, filters 95% of pollution, and kills viruses and bacteria on contact. Featured on Shark Tank India, Hecoll uses eco-friendly cotton combined with special molecules, known as 'bodyguard molecules.' These molecules come from plants like turmeric and neem, metals like nanosilver and nanocopper, and other chemical compositions. These additions make the fabric much more protective than regular cotton.
Hecoll fabrics come in two types: one with nano copper and another with a secret patented chemical formula. They protect against viruses like H1N1 and COVID-19, bacteria such as salmonella and E. coli, pollen, and harmful gases
Additionally, the fabric shields against pollen and filters out harmful gases, making it a comprehensive protective solution
